Garth Brooks not afraid to enter politics?

Country music megastar and Owasso resident Garth Brooks said he’s not afraid to enter politics, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

“If we cannot stop voting on what’s Democratic and what’s Republican instead of what’s right or wrong, we are doomed. Maybe it’ll be up to people like me to make it better,” he told the newspaper.

After visiting Haiti, the singer had a revelation, the paper revealed. What bothered him “is that with a few bad decisions, my own country could be in that shape in a few years.”

Poor Garth, unless he rails against gays and talks up guns and god, he doesn't have a chance at politics in Oklahoma. The good folks here don't really care about anything other than these catch phrases. Oh, and of course abortion must be added to the list of high priorities.

Of course we also want the government to keep sending money for all of our defense facilities. Otherwise, there would be no jobs when the demand for oil is low. We rail against big government but the state economy is very dependent on our spending more money on defense than most of the rest of the world combined. Well, that is a different subject.

Sadly, that's too true.

Well look at it this way, he couldn't possibly be worse than Inhofe!

Hey, he'd be a heck of a lot more interesting than the current bunch of fools in politics. But since he's not as polarizing, guess laz et al can't handle it.

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.

About me: I'm Okie born and raised, and have lived all over the state: Oklahoma City, Enid, Moore, Norman, Edmond and Tulsa. I am a music geek, writer, graphic designer and amateur photographer and videographer who's followed the Tulsa and regional music scene since I moved to Green Country more than 10 years ago. I've been enmeshed in Tulsa's varied and vibrant musical night life, what some of us affectionately call a modernized throwback to the Barrelhouse scene, since that time. I fell in love with it. I fell hard.
