Garth Brooks will help kick off President-elect
Barack Obama's inaugural festivities by performing at the opening gala at
Washington D.C.'s Lincoln Memorial on
Sunday.
The free show also will be broadcast on HBO. Brooks, Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Cheryl Crow and Beyonce and 14 others will perform at "We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial."
The Washington Post online reports: The 90-minute show, which will begin at 2 p.m. (Eastern Time) and which will be shown that evening in a special free broadcast on HBO, will consist mainly of performers covering songs that have historical resonance or connect to the theme of the concert, dubbed "We Are One."
NOTE: The HBO broadcast is "open feed," which means it will be free to all cable and satellite subscribers! HBO will air live at 1:30 p.m. The 90 minute event will air on channel 3 in Tulsa.
Also: If missed, We Are One will rebroadcast at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18 on channel 78 and will be available to HBO subscribers on HBO On
Demand from Monday, Jan. 19 to Sunday, Jan. 25. To access HBO On
Demand, tune to Cox channel 1. We Are One is rated at TVPG.
