The official Kickstarter for the 'Veronica Mars' movie started Wednesday, is now fully funded

In exciting, stunning, and awesome news this week, the creator of Veronica Mars, Rob Thomas, recruited Kristen Bell and friends to launch a Kickstarter campaign for a "Veronica Mars" movie with a $2 million goal. Within 24 hours, the movie met its goal, and now stands at $3 million in funds, and is still rising.

"Dr. Who" final serial to be animated

Planet 55 Studios has begun to animate episodes of the "Tenth Planet" serial, which is missing its fourth installment. Planet 55 Studios has released a preview of the Doctor's first regeneration. This is incredibly exciting for Whovians ("Doctor Who" fans) because we're finally seeing more "Doctor Who" bleed over from live action into animation. On top of that, we're seeing the first doctor animated instead of the current Doctor, which adds to the classic feeling that endeared "Doctor Who" to so many and prompted the reboot of the series in 2005.



Scientists in Wales claim they have found fossils on a meteorite

In a yet-to-be-confirmed claim, Welsh scientists have announced the find of what look like fossilized microbes on a meteor that crashed in Sri Lanka. The just is still out, and io9 has all the details.

'Evangelion,' 'One Piece,' 'Teen Titans' returning to Cartoon Network

Fans of these series can rejoice, because "Evangelion" is returning to Cartoon Network on March 17, and "One Piece" is returning later this year with all-new episodes. Glen Murikami's twist on the original "Teen Titans" cartoon, titled "Teen Titans Go!" will premier in April.

'Gravity Falls' renewed for a second season

Creator Alex Hirsch tweeted yesterday that Disney has renewed "Gravity Falls" for a second season, which means we'll be seeing more a Dipper, Mabel and Gruncle Stan in the future.

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' to include Colossus in the new movie

In a picture tweeted today by Bryan Singer, three new faces have shown up on the roster of heroes and villains. One of them appears to be Daniel Cudmore, who played Colossus in "X2."

In this new trailer, we see some new technology, including a space jump platform, a new ship in the distance, and more of the Nibiru scene.



Colin Trevorrow to direct 'Jurassic Park 4'

The director of the indie flick "Safety Not Guaranteed" has been announced as the director for the next installment of the "Jurassic Park" franchise. The movie is due to stomp into theaters on June 13.
