I am not a sportswriter, so I can't claim to have any expertise in the field. So excuse me for stepping into an area in which I might not belong, but I'm sick and tired of seeing OU's Blake Griffin get mugged on the basketball court.

It's not just in the NCAA tournament, it's been this way all year. So far in the tourney he has been flipped over someone's back in what looked more like a judo meet than a basketball game, he was hit squarely in the nose (and no foul called), he has been undercut on rebounds and he has had his nose and arm bloodied, along with getting shoved, hit, pushed, tripped and poked.

It was the same during the regular season.

Now, I know what I am about to propose is not going to happen, but I' m ready for Griffin to retaliate. OU plays Syracuse Friday. Syracuse is out of the Big East where muggings on the court are routine. Griffin is going up against two large human beings. It's going to be rough.

OU can beat Syracuse if, as with all these games, their guards show up. But, let's say that OU is getting beat by 20 with five minutes to play. I want Griffin to plaster someone. I know that's bad sportsmanship, but he's going pro next year so I say let him get some satisfaction before he goes.

If the refs are going to continue to let him get beat up, then I won't hold it against him if he just levels someone.

It's not going to happen, of course. And deep down maybe I don't want it to happen either. Blake Griffin is a great basketball player and a remarkable person and he will go out with the same class he has shown all along.

But he won't get mad, so I'll get mad for him.
