Netflix just released an update today for their iOS app that's not all that surprising, but still welcomed. Here's the update ...
Well that didn't take long: I saw late yesterday that a new YouTube.com was coming, and it finally went live for me this morning. Although I haven't spent too much time around it, the new interface is definitely more of a direction to accomplish three things: 1) look and feel like a Google app, following the aesthetics and designs of others like Google+ and Gmail 2) put the important stuff front and center, 3) make it easier to keep up with subscriptions across all your devices.
That third point seems to be the primary goal in the new redesign, as the
new introduction page works hard to sell us on the ability to use this new Guide not only on the computer, but the iPad, iPhone and television as well.
I noticed that common functions, such as sharing, embedding and rating have becoming a little more streamlined, but nothing major. Doesn't appear that anything's changed with the comments.
Overall, this redesign seems more like a step to unification rather than a major overhaul. It succeeds at that, and I look forward to seeing what else Google does to bring YouTube more and more into the mainstream viewing audience.
