Great Harvest Bread Co., 5203 S. Sheridan Road, has reopened in the Farm Shopping Center under new ownership.

Terri and Joel Roark, formerly of Stillwater, are the new owners.

Great Harvest Bread, which specializes in milling whole wheat on the premises each day, opened in 2001. A previous owner closed it about a year ago.

The Roarks spent several months remodeling the space. They moved the Skiold stone mill, made in Denmark, to a new room on the northeast side of the building in the coolest and driest location in the bakery.

“It also created more space for our customers to dine in,” Terri Roark said.

The Roarks , who have three children, formerly worked in the medical, telecommunications and national defense fields.

Great Harvest always has samples of freshly baked breads made with Montana wheat and a tub of creamy butter for customers to try when they enter the store.

In addition to various styles of bread, such as nine-grain, date walnut and honey wheat, Great Harvest offers a selection of goodies, including muffins, scones and cookies. Pumpkin muffins, Savannah bars, cinnamon chip scones and power bars were featured on a recent weekday.

Shelf items vary but may include pancake mix, dry soups, dry cereals and honey. Gift baskets also are available.

Great Harvest Bread Co. stores are locally operated across the country.
