March 31 can't come soon enough for fans of HBO's hit fantasy series "Game of Thrones" so the network provided an early reason for giving thanks – a 16-second teaser.

In the audio and graphics-only promo, a female voice intones: "The great war is between death and life, ice and fire," while the graphic shows three swords impaling the "O" in "GOT" which turns into the new season's premiere date of 03.31.13.

"If we lose, the night will never end," she concludes while drums pound away, reported eonline.com.

The promo cleverly works in the name of the George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" the series of fantasy novels on which the show is based, according to the website which also conjectures the three flying swords could be suggestive of the title of the third book in the series, "A Storm of Swords."

Fans are already looking forward to the addition of Coldplay drummer Will Champion and Snow Patrol lead singer Gary Lightbody in cameo roles next season.

They join Diana Rigg as Lady Olenna Tyrell, Mackenzie crook as Orell, Clive Russell as a famous knight, Nathalie Emannuel as translator Missandei and Kerry Ingram as the only chld of Stannis Baratheon.

The promo ran last night right before an episode of "Boardwalk Empire" on HBO, cable 300.

Game of Thrones is the best thing on film these days.
IMO (3 months ago)
It's one of the many great series we watch too.
Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Magic City, Homeland, Newsroom, Dexter, Shameless and a few others continue to make tv viewing interesting.
Network channels have a few old and new programs that we really like too.

Rita Sherrow grew up with TV. Yes, it was the ever-present “sister” from another techno mother. At first look, it was instant "Like." From then on, the TV had to be on in every room while she studied, elementary school through college. An Air Force brat, she attended school in three states (Oklahoma, Montana and Georgia) and two foreign countries (Germany and Bermuda) and graduated from Broken Arrow High School and the University of Tulsa with a degree in journalism/advertising. She first interned in the advertising world but, when a J-School professor (who also covered politics for the Tulsa World) offered her an internship at the newspaper, she took him up on it. The rest is history. She has served as bridal editor, senior features writer for the women’s section, food editor and is television editor of the Tulsa World. In addition to writing about TV shows and interviewing the stars for “Scene” stories, she also writes a TV column for Weekend and produces the Sunday TV World listings magazine.
