Has anyone had halo halo? It's a Filipino dessert akin to an American sundae. If you've had one, in Tulsa or otherwise, please let me know. E-mail me at natalie.mikles@tulsaworld.com

Served in a bowl or parfait glass, halo halo is typically layers of tropical fruits, evaporated milk, ice shavings, flan or ice cream.

Some other toppings you might see:
• Coconut meat
• Cubed mango
• Mung beans
• Garbanzos
• Flavored Jell-O
• Tapioca syrup for sweetening
• Bananas
• Shaved ice
• Sweetened condensed milk

I think I've had this at Bali Fusion Cafe. It wasn't on the menu, but the owner brought some out to us at the end of our meal to try. It was Malaysian, not Filipino, though. That place was really different, not your typical Tulsa fare. Although the food was very unusual for my Oklahoma girl palate, nothing was so odd I refused to eat it, and believe me, you won't see me on Bizarre Foods anytime soon!
