A smuggler and a bounty hunter from the Star Wars universe will be getting their own movies, according to Entertainment Weekly, and the news should make diehard fans very happy.
Boba Fett and Han Solo will be featured in spinoff films, EW reports. Solo's film will feature a younger version of everyone's favorite scoundrel from a galaxy far, far away and would be set after "Revenge of the Sith." The Boba Fett film would take place between "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back" or "Empire" and "Return of the Jedi."
This news comes on the heels of Disney confirming the plan to make spinoffs after a reports that a Yoda movie was in the works.
EW points out that the timeframe for the films would allow for appearances by Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt, who plays a big part in Solo's backstory.
Joe Johnston ("Captain America: The First Avenger") would be a natural to direct a Fett film. Johnston created Boba Fett's armor and equipment for "Empire" and worked with Ralph McQuarrie to develop the character's look, and he's already said he'd like to direct a Boba Fett movie. Directors Wes Anderson ("Moonrise Kingdon") and Robert Rodriguez ("Sin City") have expressed interest in putting their unique twists on a Han Solo project.
The casting for Fett will be easy since he's a clone and Temuera Morrison is already established as the face of the clone army, but with the Solo film set before "A New Hope," it's anyone's guess who will get the lead role. Ford was 35 when that movie was made, so expect many of Hollywood's hot young actors to be mentioned in speculation and rumors in the coming months.
So, who do you think should play a young Han Solo?
