Tulsa band of brothers Hanson celebrates its 20th anniversary starting in May.

To kick things off, the group announced a 5-day "island experience" in early 2013 for its fan club members.

Zac, Taylor and Isaac Hanson are going on vacation, and they're inviting their fans along with them to go "Back to the Island," Jan. 11-15, 2013 at the Breezes Grand Negril Resort & Spa in Negril, Jamaica.

The private island is reserved exclusively for the event, and includes drinks, food, activities, private beach, and full resort access. Plus Hanson music. Lots and lots of Hanson music. Each night will acoustic and full sets by Hanson and fun and sun with the band, along with performances from yet-to-be-announced special guests.

"The Back To The Island event will be a highlight of our 20-year celebrations," Taylor Hanson said in a media statement. "We have seen incredible fans all over the world over many years of touring, and we figure we could all use a vacation, why not mix in a little music and create an event that is unlike anything we've done before."

Also included are autograph signings, a mix drink session with Isaac Hanson, a cooking lesson with Taylor Hanson, and a tie-dye session with Zac Hanson.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday in partnership with Island Gigs. Packages and full information are available at the band's official website, Hanson.net. Packages start at $1,499 per person.

The three-time Grammy-nominated trio of brothers brothers formed Hanson, a garage band, as pre-teens.

The brothers broke into the music world as barely-teens, first singing songs like "MmmBop" — which they wrote — to an excited audience at 1992's Mayfest.

Taylor, Zac and Isaac soon hopped aboard a supersonic rocketship to fame.

The Motown-inspired pop trio struck a chord, sold millions of albums and stayed close to its Tulsa roots. They still call Tulsa home.

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.

About me: I'm Okie born and raised, and have lived all over the state: Oklahoma City, Enid, Moore, Norman, Edmond and Tulsa. I am a music geek, writer, graphic designer and amateur photographer and videographer who's followed the Tulsa and regional music scene since I moved to Green Country more than 10 years ago. I've been enmeshed in Tulsa's varied and vibrant musical night life, what some of us affectionately call a modernized throwback to the Barrelhouse scene, since that time. I fell in love with it. I fell hard.
