No more Harry Potter videos to be sold past Dec. 29. Will you rush to buy them all?
You'd better not wait until 2012 to buy that Harry Potter box set-- Warner Bros. is yanking the films off the shelves as of Dec. 29.
According to
Entertainment Weekly, "no more Harry Potter theatrical film titles (including
Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection) will be shipped to stores, initiating a profitable home entertainment model not unlike the one at Disney, which periodically re-releases its classics for home purchase."
So that means all those kiddos who want to complete their Harry Potter collections had better be very nice this year, so Santa brings them.
What do you think of this? Is it marketing magic or a ghoulish gimmick (pardon the cheesiness). By the way, EW reports that the franchise has made $12.1 billion for Warner Bros., including $5.1 billion from the home and interactive divisions.
Will you buy every re-release in the future, or are you sick of Harry Potter, already?
