The anticipated collaboration of Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse and many others is streaming now at Chrysalis music blog online. The full album is expected out later this year.

Says the Chrysalis post: BRIAN BURTON + Sparklehorse + Flaming Lips + Gruff Rhys + Iggy Pop + Suzanne Vega + Black Francis + Vic Chesnutt + Julian Casablancas + Jason Lyttle + Nina Persson + James Mercer x DAVID LYNCH = "Dark Night of the Soul."

Sparklehorse is an experimental electronic rock-music group led by singer and multi-instrumentalist Mark Linkous, from the Raleigh, North Carolina and Richmond, Virginia areas.

Said Linkous back in April: "The Flaming Lips track just came in and it's fu**ing awesome." Read my April 1 blog from Barrelhouse Beat.

Given the buzz (and secrecy) about this album, speculative posters were hung at South by Southwest, and outlets like Pitchfork, Drowned in Sound and others picked up the hints.

From Prefix magazine: The record was conceived by Danger Mouse with help from David Lynch and Mark Linkous from Sparklehorse, but also features contributions from the Flaming Lips, Iggy Pop, Black Francis, Julian Casablancas and many others.

The first track, “Revengev,” features a vocal from Wayne Coyne, and doesn’t sound too different from most of the Flaming Lips' recent recorded output. Linkous’ influence can be keenly felt on the second track, “Just War,” which sounds like a countrified John Lennon track, and features vocals from (I think) Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals.

From Drowned in Sound: The third track, the Jason Lytle one made me do a little cry.
