Tulsa Sound and blues icon Rocky Frisco's car was stolen earlier this year. A fundraiser on Friday hopefully will help him get another one. TULSA WORLD file

I just got a phone call from Tulsa Sound and blues icon Rocky Frisco. Turns out he performs at Bobbisox on Thursday nights, not Friday.

"The last thing I want to do is compete with myself for a show," he joked.

On Friday, he's playing a fundraiser -- his own.

Seriously, his political opponent for candidate for Tulsa City Council, District Four, is holding a fundraiser on Friday for Frisco.

"Get Rocky Some Wheels" is 8 p.m.-midnight on Friday at opponent Blake Ewing's restaurant, Back Alley Blues & BBQ, 116 S. Elgin Ave.

"The one and only Rocky Frisco has had his old Toyota stolen from him! This is not cool. We are inviting the blues community to come support him by raising money for a new set of wheels. We can't have this Tulsa legend going around bumming rides. Let's get him a shiny new (used) Toyota," the official Facebook invite reads.

Learn more on the Facebook page, here.

Frisco wants y'all to go.

See, Frisco's car was stolen earlier this year from his driveway in Midtown Tulsa, and he's had to hoof it or borrow rides ever since. That's no way to go about earning a living.

That night, 10 percent of all sales will go to helping the longtime Tulsa music icon find some reliable, daily transportation. Donations also will be accepted.

"Where else but in Oklahoma would opponents help each other out like this?" he asked.

Good question.
