Science has spoken: I'm getting taller.

When I was 16 and I got my driver's license, they asked my how tall I was. Five feet, nine, I said, accurately.

When I was getting ready to leave home for college I had to have a physical. Five, feet, nine the nurse wrote in the chart.

I've been the same ever since, or so I thought.

Then a few months ago, I got involved in a little exercise/cholesterol project through the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

I don't chose to disclose what other statistics were revealed during my time on the OMF's scales during my initial check-in for the program, but the nurse wrote down that I was 5 feet, 10 inches tall.

I didn't notice it until I got back home.

I pointed it out to my wife and bragged that I was getting taller.

You must have had your shoes on, she said.

But last week I went to see my doctor for a physical, and the nurse confirmed my late-life growth spurt: Five feet, nine AND THREE-QUARTERS.

Round up, I say.

My dreams of a basketball scholarship may yet come true.
