Hot dog cart wars?

Hot dog carts have been around for a few years. Just off the top of my head, I know the Dog House has had several carts shuffling around town, Grumpy's Garden near downtown has had one in its parking lot, and one often sets up near the downtown bus station.

Just in the past two days, I learned Junkyard Dawg has a cart that roams different areas, and I was told of one called Perry Dogs that recently was outside Cain's Ballroom.

Goodness knows how many others might be out there. I wonder if the emergence of the Mexican taco trailers had something to do with it. "Hey, if they can sell tacos out of trailers, why can't I sell hot dogs out of carts?" Or something like that.

And if hot dogs show staying power, then what is next? Pretzels? Yeah, wouldn't it be fun to have a couple of great pretzel carts handy before or after concerts, at prices much lower than what you might find inside a venue?

And if you can have tacos, hot dogs and pretzels, then what else? Barbecue? Philly cheesesteak? Chateaubriand?

OK, just kidding about that last one, but what would you like to see on a sidewalk food cart?

I love the smell of the food carts down town. How about some boiled peanuts?
