Trace Adkins wooed a small but enthusiastic crowd at the
BOK Center on Thursday night.
Less than half the venue’s capacity was filled, with upper seating tiers completely closed. At one point, when the lights flashed bright and Adkins surveyed the crowd, he seemed a bit stunned at the small turnout.
But his energy level soared.
As he swaggered into hits including "I Got My Game On," "Swing," "Chrome" and "Songs About Me," his sleek Nashville-meets-Southern rock tunes and lyrical baritone twang conjured comparisons to late greats Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard.
The man in denim channeled the Man in Black as he greeted the crowd, saying simply, "Hello, Tulsa. I'm Trace Adkins."
