Though he only spent about a year here before he took off for “American Idol” and international fame, “I learned more about myself in Tulsa than anywhere else — musically and as a human being. I learned where I want to sit on this planet. I love Tulsa.”
The former barkeep and member of local band Midwest Kings has no regrets about leaving Tulsa to try his fate on the television talent show.
Heck, he racked up 11 Billboard charting tunes in one week after his “Idol” win in 2008. The only other act to pull that off was the Beatles, which charted 14 songs in one week in 1964.
Seriously.
He and singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw have teamed up for a co-headlining tour, which rolls through Cain's Ballroom on Oct. 13.
