If you want to see "The Nutcracker" before anyone else....

...head down the turnpike to Rose State College in Midwest City, where Tulsa Ballet will present three performances this weekend of its version of "The Nutcracker."

The performances will be 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, and 2 p.m. Sunday Dec. 7. The Tulsa Symphony will accompany the production. Tickets are $15 to $55, and available locally at Tulsa Ballet, or online at tulsaworld.com/mytix.

This has been something of a tradition, for Tulsa Ballet to open its holiday gift in other cities before presenting it to the home crowd. Beginning in the 1970s, the company would often do a regional tour of "The Nutcracker" that might last a month or so. The first performances of Marcello Angelini's new "Nutcracker" in 2003 were given in Fayetteville, Ark., and Knoxville, Tenn., before the production's Tulsa debut.

If you already have plans for the weekend, then remember "The Nutcracker" returns to Tulsa Dec. 13-21.
