With all the recent doomsday hysteria concerning zombies, asteroids, Mayan calendars, financial meltdowns and electricity going away, nobody is thinking about the threat posed by sentient machines, except these guys.
The BBC is reporting that Cambridge philosophy professor Huw Price has set up
The Centre for the Study of Existential Risk to study just this kind of threat, among others.

here.My question has always been why everybody assumes the machines will automatically be evil once they gain the ability to think for them selves. They may just want to keep on doing the mundane tasks they were programmed for.

Daniel H. Wilson, who went to Booker T. Washington high school and TU and also has a Ph.D. in Robotics, wrote a New York Times best seller, "Robopocalypse," where the downfall of human society starts in Utica Square. So avoid that place when the fighting starts.
