It's Hollywood week on 'American Idol' -- will your favorite make it?

I'm quite curious to see who among our local "Idol" talent will make it past Hollywood this week and next -- folks like Zoanette "Big Crazy Barbie" Johnson or Kayden Stephenson from Owasso.

Whether those auditioning received a unanimous "yes" from Mariah, Randy, Nicki and Keith, or had the judges battling over their fates, it's a clean slate in Hollywood for the lucky contestants who are one step closer to becoming the next "American Idol."

Of course, you can count on drama and, perhaps, desperation escalating behind the scenes as the pressure mounts during the intense Hollywood rounds, which kick-off with the guys competing 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, then 7-8 p.m. Thursday, all on Fox, channel 23.

The girls get their chances to win over the judges beginning Feb. 13. At the end of the girls' second and final Hollywood round on Valentine's Day, only the Top 40 semifinalists -- 20 guys and 20 girls -- will remain.

For the first time in the Hollywood rounds, it's guys vs. guys and girls vs. girls, as they compete for a spot in the coveted Top 40 semifinalists.

The Hollywood rounds will be the toughest audition yet. For some contestants, it will be a life-changing opportunity; for others, the end of the road.

First, they will face the judges and sing a cappella, trusting only in their talent to make it another day. Those that survive will then join forces with one another -- trusting in friends and, possibly, foes -- for the sleep-deprived group day. Those who stand out will move on to the solo day, giving the remaining contestants one more chance to impress the judges and make the Top 40.

Who are you hoping makes it to the Top 40?

Peace, love and Hollywood rounds ... XOXO

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
