Awwww ...

I saw those words in my email inbox a second ago and was all, "Ruh-roh, Scooby. It's the end times!" Then again, I'm overly caffeinated this morning, and I've already been hogging up on homemade peanut brittle.

Whatever, the email wasn't about impending Armageddon, with or without Ben Affleck and Bruce Willis; it was about finishing up your holiday shopping -- which, to some, might be about as scary as a huge asteroid hurtling toward the planet.

This particular message came from GaGa-a-GoGo children's boutique, 1631 E. 15th St., which is reminding everyone that we have just two nights before Hanukkah and eight days 'til Christmas to stock up on last-minute gifts.

Among the cute offerings are the fragrantly fun Christmas Smencils writing utensils, plus Astronaut Ice Cream and other cool stuff -- all less than $8.

A cuddly plus is that the SPCA Mobile Adoption Center will be at the boutique 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. It's THE perfect opportunity to send your spouse out of the house with the kids so you can wrap all of those presents -- not to mention pick up a new dog or cat that needs a safe, warm, loving home.

GaGa is still taking donations for local pet rescue groups, too, and you can find the entire list on their Web site, tulsaworld.com/gagagogo.

For more, call the store at 749-4400.

Peace, love and ho-ruh-roh ... xoxo

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
