So, I've read all over this site about certain readers being amped about the upcoming
Tool show. It's a show I would have loved to preview for our readers, but I couldn't.
Why? Because I've been trying for more than a month to get an interview, press materials, etc. I was told numerous times, "Yes, we'll schedule an interview." What the Tulsa World finally got for a reply from the band's press people (yesterday) was "please feel free to move foward to another story. thanks."
So, it's that simple.
Sometimes, when there isn't a story in the paper about your favorite band performing in Tulsa, it isn't because we don't care to cover it. Quite the contrary. Sometimes, bands won't give pre-concert interviews. Or the publicists (or bands) stall and miss our deadline. Or the artist cancels the interview or reschedules. Other times, yes, we don't have space or time to write about everything, and must prioritize our coverage, thereby leaving some local, regional and national acts out of our publication.
And, we often have a policy that we don't review shows that we don't preview, simply because there are too many great shows coming through this area that we want to tell you about -- before they happen.
And now you know.
But, rest assured, we'll likely have great interviews coming up with Chris Cornell. And Debbie Harry. And AM and Bob Schneider. And probably Peter Bjorn and John. And tobyMac. And Shiny Toy Guns. Plus all the killer local and regional music acts we cover, as well.
Cheers.
