Kristin Chenoweth will be tackling big news this season on "The Good Wife."

The Broadway and Emmy-winning actress is joining the CBS series as a top political reporter asking pointed questions about the Florrick campaign and the marriage between recently separated Alicia (Juliana Margulies) and Peter (Chris Noth).

Chenoweth will make her debut during the show's fourth season premiere in September and the role will be recurring, according to CBS.

The Broken Arrow native starred in the recently canceled ABC series "GCB," won an Emmy for her role in the quirky comedy "Pushing Daisies," played a recurring character in "The West Wing" and was Emmy-nominated twice for her role as April Rhodes in "Glee."

The singer-songwriter was in Oklahoma last weekend performing in a sold-out concert at the newly-named Kristin Chenoweth Theater at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center. She is wrapping up her North American concert tour June 29 in Chicago.

A 1986 graduate of Broken Arrow High school, Chenoweth received her bachelor of arts in musical theater and her masters in opera performance from Oklahoma City University.

Professionally, she has also charmed audiences with her performances on Broadway as Glinda the Good Witch in "Wicked" and earned Tony Award for her role as Sally Brown in "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown." Her most recent Broadway appearance was in the 2010 revival of the musical comedy "Promises, Promises."

Her film career has included roles in "You Again," "Four Christmases," "Deck the Halls," "Running With Scissors," "Stranger Than Fiction" and "Into Temptation." Her new film "Hit & Run" will be released later this year.

Chenoweth is latest new addition to "The Good Wife" guest-star roster. The network also announced the addition of Maura Tierney, who starred with Margulies on "ER," and Marc Warren to the show.

"The Good Wife" will air Sundays at 8 p.m. on channel 6 in the fall.

As much as I love Kristin, her addition to this particular cast does not compute. I hope she proves me wrong.

Rita Sherrow grew up with TV. Yes, it was the ever-present “sister” from another techno mother. At first look, it was instant "Like." From then on, the TV had to be on in every room while she studied, elementary school through college. An Air Force brat, she attended school in three states (Oklahoma, Montana and Georgia) and two foreign countries (Germany and Bermuda) and graduated from Broken Arrow High School and the University of Tulsa with a degree in journalism/advertising. She first interned in the advertising world but, when a J-School professor (who also covered politics for the Tulsa World) offered her an internship at the newspaper, she took him up on it. The rest is history. She has served as bridal editor, senior features writer for the women’s section, food editor and is television editor of the Tulsa World. In addition to writing about TV shows and interviewing the stars for “Scene” stories, she also writes a TV column for Weekend and produces the Sunday TV World listings magazine.
