Kwanzaa celebrations in Tulsa are typically more private, celebrated in homes and among small groups. But one, happening at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, is open to all.

Kujichagulia, which takes place at Rudisill Regional Library, is a good opportunity to introduce your children to Kwanzaa, this holiday celebrating African-American history and culture.

Kwanzaa begins the day after Christmas and continues to Jan. 1 each year. The Tulsa event isn't just an educational opportunity for kids, but a true celebration, open to adults and children.

It will include spoken-word poets, African dancers, singing and community participation.

Kujichagulia
When: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday
Where: Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N. Hartford Ave.
Call: 918-549-7650
