Lagniappe du jour: Ozzy, whores and Nescafe

Then, was it not Twain but Osbourne who said, "Be careless in your dress if you will, but keep a tidy soul"? Hmm ...

"Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most." -- Anonymous(ish)

I say "ish" because someone online -- someone anonymous, fittingly enough -- said that quote may have originated from Mark Twain; others say Ozzy Osbourne. Hmmm ...

OK, so it's been forever and a day since my last post. I won't lie to you (which is a lie): I just haven't felt like doing a blog. I haven't felt like doing much lately except work, to be honest. I've been a lazy, non-gym-going, ice cream-eating whore with a capital "H" sound. No good reason, just the same tired excuse -- stress and depression, whine, whine, whine. But a new drug should kick in soon (once I pick up the prescription at Med-X, oops), so I'll be back on track in no time, knock on Elijah Wood.

So I'm stealing my monthly lagniappe thing -- that once-a-month ramble I write for my Tuesday column with multiple topics strung together with little rhyme or reason. Hence the use of the "L word" above.

Whatever, at some point this week, I hope to tell you about some really cool fitness-related news. Very, very excited about it, actually. By the way, I've been running outside every other day for almost two weeks, so it's not like I'm being a TOTAL lazy cow.

Speaking of "moo," I'm moving -- out of my little shoebox cottage of 6.5 years and away from the running trail that snaked through Maple Park just yards from my driveway. But I'll be joining a new gym -- or "old," really, considering I've worked out there twice before since 1998. Maybe third time's the charm, nescafe?

More random things will come to me, and I hope to holler at you tomorrow. Be on the look-out, too, for the occasional beauty product review. Notice how the "O" word keeps me from committing.

Peace, love and missing minds ... XOXO

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
