Visitors and performers walk around the Renaissance Festival at the Castle of Muskogee.

This weekend will be the last weekend the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival will be open at the Castle of Muskogee, 3400 W. Fern Mountain Road.

If you still don't have plans for Memorial Day Weekend, consider heading out there anytime from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

I attended the festival for the first time ever during its opening weekend and loved it. From the minute you enter the castle's gates to the minute you leave, you are transported to a 16th-century English village.

Be sure to get there early, because a lot of the performances overlap, and you'll want to catch as much as you can.

My favorite show was the Birds of Prey exhibition. The act shows off the magnificence of numerous birds of prey, including owls, hawks and falcons. Get a good seat so you can see the birds as the presenter tells you about them. Some of the owls can live to be 100 years old, and other birds have talons larger than panther claws!

Royal jousting, magic shows, and jugglers are also part of the show. And check out the chess game played by live kings, queens and pawns.

If you're hungry, sign up for the Royal Luncheon that is set for 1 p.m. each day, or catch tea with the Queen at 1 p.m. Or just hit up any of the multiple food vendor sprinkled across the grounds. (Tip: The funnel cake is located behind the Tournament Arena. I followed my nose in circles to find it, until I gave up and just asked someone.)

Tickets are 5.95-$12.95 in advance at tulsaworld.com/okcastle or $7.95-$14.95 at the door. Free for children 5 and younger.

For more information, call 918-687-3625 or visit the website at www.okcastle.com.

Enjoy!
