Lee's Chicken to close Saturday night

Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken will mark its final day Saturday night after 42 years at 902 S. Sheridan Road.

Victor Ray, who brought Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken to Tulsa in the spring of 1970, died in February 2011. His daughter, Shirley Whitworth, died in an auto accident last November, and since then her daughters, Lucinda Whitworth and Samantha Bonfitto, have been running the restaurant.

"I'm sorry to say that Saturday will be our last day," Bonfitto said.

The restaurant will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., or as long as the food holds out, Saturday.

The Tulsa location is the only Oklahoma site for a Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken.

Sorry to hear about Lee's. Couldn't someone buy them out and continue the operation?

Did they have the chicken recipe from The Golden Drumstick (Mr. Lee Apple) or was their recipe from another source ?
