As of this posting, I am officially into the 21st century. With the help of colleagues and folks who know a lot more about this technical stuff than I, I am now officially a blogger.
I might be setting myself up for trouble, but I figure it can’t be any worse than the e-mails or letters to the editor.
So, let’s get started. I imagine I will feel more comfortable as time goes by and I get used to doing this. But as anyone who has read my columns or talked with me knows, I usually don’t have much trouble in the writing or talking department. That’s pretty evident when I turn in my Sunday column and the editor simply groans. Not because of the content (at least I hope not) but the length. That also might have something to do with new bar friends deciding it’s time to shoot pool.
The most controversial issue I have written about is the illegal immigration problem. I’m willing to discuss it further here, but I don’t intend on wasting a good Sunday column - they’re too difficult to find.
Another issue that is near and dear to my heart is organ donation. I believe anyone who is capable (and the pool is smaller than you might think) should be a donor. I’ve witnessed too many lives extended by donations not to be a big fan.
But, I’ll discuss sports, too. I’m a big OU football fan and, sadly, a Cubs baseball fan, although I have not followed baseball as closely since the last strike.
Now, I will strike a blow for brevity here and end.
