Jose Torres Tama, the performance artist who has spent the past week in Tulsa leading local people in a workshop that will result in a performance 7 p.m. Saturday at the Nightingale Theater, 1416 E. Fourth St., is blogging about the experience.

The residency is part of Living Arts of Tulsa's New Genre Festival, which continues this weekend before concluding Tuesday with the performance at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center by the Merce Cunningham Dance company.

James D. Watts Jr. has lived in Oklahoma for most his life, even though he still has people saying to him, "Don't sound like you're from around these parts." A University of Oklahoma Phi Beta Kappa graduate, Watts has received the Governor Arts Award, Harwelden Award and the National Conference of Christians and Jews Beth Macklin Award for his writing. Before coming to the Tulsa World, Watts worked for the Tulsa Tribune.
