Long time no write -- here's a ramble

Yes, I've been remiss in blogging at you, dear reader. I blame the heat. Seriously, when is this gonna let up? Then again, we were rather spoiled with temps mostly in the 80s all summer. See, this is why I don't blog often -- I bore myself and, no doubt, YOU with prattle about the weather, like we're on a porch, just a rockin' back and forth.

Anyway, have you seen the ads with Sarah Jessica Parker and her new fragrance, Covet? Kinda cute in that "there's nothing else to watch on cable" kind of way. Love her. Haven't smelled the new stuff yet, though. Not sure there's ANYTHING I'd go to jail for. Then again, I'd love to know what that scent smelled like toward the end of "Perfume: A Murder Story" or whatever it's called. Y'all see that? Very interesting.

Still haven't seen the new "Transformers" movie, even though I bought my vintage-looking Transformers T-shirt earlier this year at Urban Outfitters. Can't even wear it now, it's like a sausage casing.

As a Tulsan, I'm glad the PGA was here -- boosted the economy, got our name out there, blah, blah, blah. But I'm kinda glad it's over, ya know? Like a busy holiday season -- just want to wad up the wrapping paper, toss it and the rest of the fudge in the trash (yeah, right) put the Carpenters' Christmas album away so no one will find it and just get on with life.

I promise to be ... No, make that "I'll strive toward feigning the desire to be" somewhat more helpful, reader-friendly in this blog -- offer helpful tidbits, that kind of thing. But as for today, I'm creatively tapped.

Peace, love and sausage casings ... xoxo

That's excellent, Martie! I'll try to pass along that "teensie weensie tops and shorts" advice (anonymously, of course) some time soon, either on here on in a column. Take care!

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
