Veteran restaurateur Kathy Bondy has purchased the French Hen, for three decades one of the finest fine-dining spots in Tulsa.
"I just couldn't stand it anymore; restaurants are in my blood," said Bondy, who spent the past few years in the corporate world at Arby's.
Bondy purchased the French Hen, 7143 S. Yale Ave., from the Clark family, which includes well-known chef Richard Clark.
Bondy once was a partner with Richard Clark in Table 10. She also has had stints at McGill's (18 years) and In the Raw. She said she is sole owner of the French Hen.
"Right now it's a one-man show," she said. "I spent a few weeks putting in new carpet and freshening up the restaurant, then opened under my management Nov. 1."
Bondy said the restaurant will continue to use some of Richard Clark's most popular recipes. She also is consulting with Oklahoma City chef Kurt Fleischfresser, best known for his work at Coach House, on a new menu.
The French Hen was operated for 20 years by Terry Turner. The Clarks have had the restaurant 10 years.
