Adam Levine, the leader singer of Maroon Five, is branching out into films.

Levine, also a judge on NBC's hit series "The Voice," has landed a lead role in "Can a Song Save Your Life," a new film from the "Once" director John Carney, according to deadline.com.

Levine joins a cast that includes Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Hailee Steinfeld. The film will be executive produced by Judd Aptow.

In it, his character and his girlfriend (Knightley) move to New York to pursue music careers but he dumps her in favor of a solo contract and she ends up being discovered at a local bar by down-and-out record producer (Ruffalo).

Levine has also signed for a multi-episode run on Ryan Murphy's "American Horror Story" returning to FX, cable 35 in Tulsa, in the fall.
