Marshall Brewing Co.'s El Cucuy is an India-style black ale. TOM GILBERT/Tulsa World

Tulsa's Marshall Brewing Co. will launch this year's production of El Cucuy, an India-style black ale, 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Elote Cafe, 514 S. Boston Ave.

The extremely limited release of El Cucuy primarily will be bottled, although the launch party will include the beer on draft. Brewmaster Eric Marshall and the Marshall Brewing team will be on hand to greet customers and answer questions.

According to Marshall, the ale features "dark roasted notes that sneak up on the subdued caramel malt backbone and the irresistible bitterness, creating a harmonious and frighteningly delicious balance. But beware, this beer is dry-hopped, providing an intensely vibrant floral and citrusy aroma and at 8.6 percent (alcohol by volume) is not a monster to be carelessly dealt with. Be good or the Cucuy will get you."

El Cucuy is an imaginary creature of the dark, similar to the boogeyman, that haunts the minds of children and adults alike in some cultures.

El Cucuy ale will be available in 22-ounce botttles in liquor stores, restaurants and bars across Oklahoma while supplies last.

Marshall's Brewing makes terrific beer! They are not afraid to bring on the taste. If you like Oregon brewers like Deschutes, Bridgeport and Rouge, you'll love Marshall's Brewing.
