McNellie's Pub plans 'end-of-the-world' festivities

A newsletter from McNellie's Pub says it plans to "laugh in the face of all Mayan doomsday predictions" at 11 a.m. Friday and tap a keg of Unibroue's La Fin Du Monde.

La Fin Du Monde ("the end of the world" in French-Canadian), a tripel-style golden ale, never before has been available on draft outside the brewery in Chambly, Quebec.

If the Mayan predictions don't get you, McNellie's End of the World hamburger might. Chef Ashing's heart-stopping creation includes one pound of ground beef topped with bratwurst, chili, shredded cheese, queso, jalapenos, more chili, more queso and a fried egg.

McNellie's is located at 401 E. First St.

I love this idea. I know I won't be able to eat the whole burger but maybe with the help of my husband we can put a dent in the thing.

I will raise a glass to "La Fin Du Monde".

And on a lighter note, my son told his fiance they would get married on December 21, 2012, so he wouldn't have to be married for the rest of his life!!!!! Now I call that a glowing recommendation..... NOT!!!!!!!
