Jason Wu for Target -- will customers
Remember the mad dash for Missoni at Target last September?
Customers flocked to stores when it released a collaboration with Italian design house Missoni at affordable prices.
Customers took everything they could find off the shelves, and online shoppers
crashed the website.
Many lucky consumers promptly placed the items on ebay -- with high markups.
A
Tulsa woman reportedly tried to sell her Missoni rain boots for $31,000 on ebay.
Hold on to your heels because the retailer has announced a Feb. 5 launch for its next designer collaboration -- with New York fashion designer du jour, Jason Wu for Target.
Target released its look book today online, and it's full of feminine looks, flirty tops, skirts, scarves and accessories.
Aimed at the fashion-forward young lady, Wu's was inspired by "the vision of an American girl in Paris, bringing Jason Wu’s signature aesthetic and attention to detail to Target’s guests at incredible prices," according to a Target news release.
Wu said:
“As with my main collection, special attention has been considered into every detail and I can’t wait to see girls wearing and enjoying the collection.”
Prices are set from $19.99 to $59.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $49.99 for handbags and scarves.
Judging from the pieces I glanced at, it's a bit Audrey Hepburn-meets-Zooey Deschanel.
This collection is clearly aimed at a younger woman -- I won't be wearing a lot of these mini-skirts -- but the mixing and matching possibilities seem very promising.
Wu hit the fashion scene in a major way in 2006, and hasn't looked back. The Parsons School of Design graduate (the design school featured on Project Runway), has since dressed celebrities from Reese Witherspoon to Diane Kruger.
But he is probably most known for the stunning, gown he created for
Michelle Obama at President Obama's 2008 Inauguration Ball.
The million-dollar question is this: Will shoppers flock to Target for Wu as they did for Missoni?
We shall see...
