Missoni is so popular that users clamoring for the lower-priced items crashed Target's website.

Update: More info from Missoni madness today at area Target stores.

I thought I was in serious trouble this morning when I realized that the Target website crashed, due to today's launch of the Missoni for Target clothing and home line.

When Tar-jay announced it was partnering with the legendary luxury brand, Missoni, fashion and design enthusiasts collectively freaked.

I could slap myself silly for falling asleep before midnight last night to order my coveted items: Suede pumps and two ceramic, black-and-white vases.

But I somehow got in...ordered some things online, then it crashed again! Many of you, undoubtedly saw this message pop up: "Woof! We are suddenly extremely popular. You may not be able to access our site momentarily due to unusually high traffic. Please stay here and we’ll try to get you in as soon as we can!”

Callers and Twitter friends have been describing to me their wild experiences in Target stores today. Some said managers promised more shipments later this week, and others are noticing that merchandise is already on ebay. Many described frustrated shoppers and even more frustrated store employees, recalling that today has been "worse than Black Friday."

While it's understandable that there's a frenzy over this unthinkably expensive label -- we're talking $1,000 and up -- it's sparked a frenzy even a fan like myself never imagined.

I bought a pair of shoes online today for $39.99, and I just saw them listed on ebay for $250. I think we're getting a little overexcited, don't you?

One caller told us that a shopper at one Tulsa-area store bought the majority of the store's merchandise in order to re-sell it on ebay.

This has officially gone berserk. While the line is great, it's not worth fighting for. Or is it?

Tell us about your experiences today at Target.
