Hi! Are you a size two? Twenty-something years old? Fabulous. But we’ll have to talk later, Baby – I’m here for those 40-something stunners.
It seems that More magazine and Wilhelmina Models are set to host the eighth annual More/Wilhelmina 40+ Model Search to find women who are beautiful, accomplished and confident. So seeing as how Tulsa is FULL of such women, I just had to tell y’all about this.
Women 40 years of age and older are eligible to participate in the contest, which runs now through Nov. 15. Ten finalists will receive an expense-paid trip to New York City to participate in the finals events on Feb. 20, 2008.
The top three winners will be decided by a panel of More editors, Wilhelmina agents and other industry experts. The winners and finalists will share a total prize package valued at more than $87,000, including Wilhelmina modeling contracts, a fashion spread in an upcoming issue of More, and other prizes from presenting sponsor (Talbots) and the official product sponsors (Garnier Nutrisse and Baume & Mercier).
To enter, model hopefuls can pick up the latest issue of More, visit www.more.com or www.wilhelmina.com, or attend open-call events at the following locations across the country (visit the Web sites for those, por favor).
Simply mail entry forms, a current photo and a $25 processing fee to More/Wilhelmina Model Search, P.O. Box 9151, Garden City, NY 11530-9151. All entries must be postmarked by Nov. 15, 2007, and received by Nov. 26, 2007; online entries by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 15, 2007.
And if any of y’all win from around here, you better holler at me!
Peace, love and modeling contests … xoxo

I so "get" this magazine...it is also delivered to my mailbox.
Even though the ads in the publication still predominately feature younger,rail-thin, airbrushed models the actual features and articles cover some great subject matter and actually feature photos of "real" women.
It would be great, Jason, to see a follow up article on the model search...btw...I love your column...and you too!

I suppose there is a reason you didn't submit me for this contest? Our friendship is so over...

Living Wright
While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
