A turtleneck.
Dangit to Dallas if I didn't gain a freakin' pound since last week! Ugh ... 207 vs. last week's 206. I'm more than a little angry.
Granted, I weighed after lunch while wearing a heavy turtleneck, cowboy boots and my wallet -- that's a pound or two right there, I hope. I'm bad about not throwing away receipts. Again, ugh ...
Maybe it was last Thursday's Frito-frenzied chili bowl followed by from-scratch chocolate cake. But that was my only splurge, unless you count the three tortilla chips I ate at Compadre's on Saturday. And I've been working out SIX DAYS EACH WEEK! Sorry to scream at you in all caps, but I'm vexed. No, I am ticked. Off.
Whatever, deep breaths, deep breaths ... So here's a synopsis of my weekend's vittle intake and fitness "fun":
SATURDAY: Did upper-body weights and at least one hour of cardio -- probably more because I get obsessed while I'm there. After that, home for scrambled egg whites with spinach and Feta -- 1/4 cup, the recommended serving. Later, for an early dinner, I had grilled tilapia with grilled veggies at Compadre's -- and only three freakin' chips dipped in salsa. Had more egg whites much later in the evening. At least I think I did, I honestly don't remember.
SUNDAY: Oatmeal with blueberries and cinnamon for breakfast, banana for snack, then lunched on grilled salmon and organic whole-grain wild rice, which I cooked in low-sodium chicken broth vs. water -- 15 calories per cup, so you know that ain't bad. Oh, and I had an apple. For dinner, I wilted some spinach and tossed it with Feta, red bell pepper, lentils and a roasted red bell pepper vinaigrette. And that's it.
OK, that's a lie. I went to Lord V's to watch the Grammys, and he had made chicken and dumplings -- a dish he's quite good at. By 9 p.m., I couldn't stand it, HAD to have some -- honest, just a coffee mug of it, mostly chicken breast meat with one or two (or three) dumplings. Must be some heavy dumplings.
But it's Monday, and I'm on a holy-rolling crusade to lose at least one pound to get me back to my late-January fighting weight. Seriously, if I'm gonna gain tonnage, I want it to be from chips and queso, pizza and Ben & Jerry's ice cream, not Feta.
Upward and onward, though -- 'tis a new week. Keep your fingers crossed.
Peace, love and heavy turtlenecks ... xoxo
P.S.: W5D1=week 5, day 1 -- but you probably figured that out because you're smart like that.
