NBC has picked up "The Voice" for fourth and fifth cycles and confirmed Oklahoma's musician coach Blake Shelton will continue on the show through spring 2013.

Shelton - who who lives on a ranch near Tishomingo with his country star wife, Miranda Lambert - and Adam Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine "will remain with the series through the fourth cycle," Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement Tuesday.

"This pickup will assure the many dedicated 'Voice' fans that this innovative show will continue to bring some of the most talented new voices to the world’s attention through all of next year," he said.

Last week, it was announced music superstars Usher and Shakira would join the show as new celebrity musician coaches when it returns next spring for its fourth cycle.

"... With the addition of Usher and Shakira as rotating coaches to join Christina (Aguilera), Cee Lo (Green), Adam and Blake in the next cycle, we know that this incredibly addictive program will remain even more relevant as we move forward through this exciting season ..."

Aguilera, who is releasing a new album and going on tour, and Green, who is developing new music plus a scripted comedy series for NBC based on his life, will take that spring cycle off.

The show's format has four stages of competition starting with the blind auditions, then battle rounds, the new knockouts and the live performance shows. The winner of "The Voice" receives a recording contract.

On tonight's show, airing at 7 p.m. on NBC, channel 2, cable 9, the judges bicker, bromance reigns supreme and there are more tears.
