Nelson's Ranch House Buffeteria at 1547 E. Third St. Tulsa World file
Chicken-fried steaks are crackling in the fryer again at Nelson's Ranch House Buffeteria, 1547 E. Third St.
The restaurant, which was closed about two months to meet city codes, got back in business June 2.
The buffeteria is operated by Nelson Barry Rogers III, grandson of Nelson Rogers Sr., who founded Nelson's Buffeteria at 13 W. Fourth St. in 1929.
Barry's mother, Suzanne Rogers, and brother, Steven Rogers, currently operate a Nelson's Buffeteria at 4401 S. Memorial Drive.
Both restaurants offer traditional breakfasts and lunch fare that includes their signature chicken-fried steaks, pan-fried steak, chicken-fried chicken and French dip beef sandwiches, in addition to daily specials.
The popular specials include baked spaghetti, chicken pot pie, meatloaf, the Nellie burger and baked cod.
Hours for both restaurants are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Nelson's Ranch House Buffeteria has a new phone number: 918-382-9930.
