New Year's resolutions? Not yet.

It's a little too early to talk New Year's resolutions. We still have about a week for leftover ham, cookies and those last pieces of candy in the bottoms our stockings.

My house is overrun with candy. Fancy chocolates, M&Ms, movie theater-size boxes: It's all there. My husband filled my stocking with movie passes and all of my favorite candies... gummy bears, raspberry/blackberries, Red Vines, Junior Mints. So all we need is a tub of buttered popcorn, and we're set.

Diets are for January. The last days of December are for extra butter on your popcorn, real Cokes, twice-baked potatoes, ham and cheese omelettes and chocolate.

All of this said, beginning Jan. 1, you'll find a new, healthy recipe every day of the month in the Tulsa World. I know I need help kick starting my resolutions, and some of you do too. So I would love to hear about your favorite healthy recipes. If you have any you would like to share with other Tulsa World readers, please e-mail me. Then we can all try to be healthy together.

Food Writer Nicole Marshall Middleton joined the Tulsa World in May 1993 after graduating from Oklahoma State University. She has covered crime, city government and general assignment beats during that time - but mostly crime. But when she isn’t at work, Nicole is a devoted food hobbyist. She enjoys meal planning and cooking with her husband, Steve, every day of the week and on holidays it’s a family affair. When the opportunity to become the food writer at the Tulsa World presented itself in the summer of 2011, Nicole jumped at it. She is excited to explore a new side of Tulsa and make the transition from crime to cuisine. .
