Jack Anderson, longtime dance critic for the New York Times and author of the 1981 book, "The One and Only: The Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo," has written the Times' obituary for Tulsa Ballet co-founder Moscelyne Larkin.

It can be read here.

Anderson has been a champion of Tulsa Ballet and the work of Miss Larkin and her husband Roman Jasinski for many years. He has visited Tulsa on numerous occasions to observe and review the company, as well as to give talks on dance history.

In a 1991 Tulsa World interview, Anderson said of the Jasinskis' success in creating and sustaining Tulsa Ballet, "I think it's because the Jasinskis have found a way to attract people in Tulsa to ballet with fervor and a great deal of charm. That, and a sense of personal conviction."

He added that "Tulsa Ballet Theater is a company that has exemplified
the ideals of regional ballet, starting from the ground up. It's remarkable that a successful ballet thrives in Tulsa, at a time when there are financially rocky times for companies in a Chicago or Los Angeles."
