New flavors of turducken

So, you know about turducken, a chicken stuffed in a duck stuffed in a turkey.

Thousands of them are processed, stuffed and shipped out from Hebert's Cajun specialty shop right here in Tulsa at 2101 E. 71st St.

The turducken is a Cajun invention, but it's become a tradition for many Tulsa families for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If the turducken wasn't enough of a conversation piece, now Ed Richard, owner of Hebert's, has three new flavors.

The traditional turducken has a pork stuffing. Two of the new turduckens have a chicken sausage and a chicken jalapeno sausage. The third is called a "turken," and is made with no duck. It's a chicken stuffed in a chicken stuffed in a turkey.

To order, call Hebert's at 298-8400.

When the opportunity to become the food writer at the Tulsa World presented itself in the summer of 2011, Nicole jumped at it. She is excited to explore a new side of Tulsa and make the transition from crime to cuisine. .
