New trailer: 007 in "Skyfall"

James Bond dies in the new trailer for "Skyfall," the new 007 movie due in November. Then he comes back to life.

The scene here is dramatic, but we've seen James Bond fake his death in a movie before. (Can you name the movie, which began with Bond's death at the opening scenes? Look below for the answer.)

The usual impossible stunts are all there in this trailer, the Bond girls fit the bill, but what left me shaken and stirred was the first appearance of Javier Bardem as the villain.

We rarely have an actor of his talent in this role, and he's got a hairdo that's a doozie, if not as terrifying as the one he sported in "No Country for Old Men."

You have to see it to believe it, and to hear his delicious reference to Judi Dench's M: "Mommy was very bad." Check it all out below in the new trailer for "Skyfall."

Answer: What previous 007 installment began with the death of James Bond? It was "You Only Live Twice," that wonderfully fun 1967 picture starring Sean Connery.

“I was born a poor, black child” … not me, actually, but Steve Martin’s character in the “The Jerk.” That absurd opening line is just one of the absurd number of film facts, quotes and minutiae contained in movie critic Michael Smith’s brain, at his disposal to toss out on a moment’s notice. It’s a key requirement as Tulsa World film critic to know these things. Michael learned a few other life facts along the way (seven years as a Crystal’s Pizza & Spaghetti manager) before attempting journalism and joining the Tulsa World in 1996, where he’s covered everything from a school shooting in Fort Gibson to a tornado in Stroud to witnessing an execution. A little community theater coverage was sprinkled in there, too. Movies engender many of his happiest memories, from standing in line for “Star Wars” and “Grease” at the Southroads Cinema to the James Bond and Pink Panther movies that always premiered at the enormous Continental Theater.
