Next time I'm near Ardmore I'm heading to Jake's Joint

A new restaurant in Ardmore has come to my attention, and it looks like a "must try" the next time I am down that way.

Jake's Joint recently opened at the Ardmore Airpark, 620 General Drive. It serves lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday and dinner 5:30-9 p.m. (by reservation only) Friday-Saturday.

Most of the lunch items are salads and sandwiches priced $5-$6, but things get kicked up to fine dining on Friday and Saturday nights with entrees such as rack of lamb, Kobe beef filet and King salmon, most priced in the $20s and $30s. A prix fixe Kobe beef dinner with all the trimmings is $70.

Chef Larry Core, who studied under Emeril Legasse at Commander's Palace in New Orleans and worked as a personal chef for Rupert Murdoch, led the team that developed the menu.

Owner Jerry Allen King-Echeverria, or Jake, has operated an aircraft maintenance and customization company at the airpark since 1993.

The dining areas range from white tablecloth to wildly colorful and whimsical. A short slide show of the restaurant is available at tulsaworld.com/jakesjoint.

The phone number is 580-389-5040.
