So far, I haven't killed anyone yet.

As I'll allude to in tomorrow's column, I'm officially quitting smoking. And I'm dreading the potential withdrawal and corresponding bad mood.

Of course, like a Facebook friend just said, "I quit every day." I didn't know if that was like, "Each day is a non-smoking victory!" -- or if it's like, "I'm going to bed now, time to quit smoking." I'm gonna go with the former.

Anyway, I had my last ciggie break after breakfast this morning, sitting out on my front stoop pondering how my day was going to go. I simply snuffed it out, got ready, went to work -- and didn't smoke one as I usually do when walking the 18,000 blocks from the lot to the office. No smoke breaks with my office buddy, no post-lunch puff. So that's like, what, five hours smoke-free? Woohoo!

I'm afraid I'm going to start over-eating, though. As friends point out, I don't really inhale -- which makes this whole smoking thing even more stupid. That said, is it just an oral fixation? That's my fear -- that I'll start stuffing my face with calorie-laced items vs. nicotine-laced ones. Time -- and, perhaps, my waist line -- will tell.

Peace, love and clearer breathing (fingers crossed) ... xoxo
