Nobody knows the truffles I've seen -- except, perhaps, Mrs. Butterworth

I like mine in 32-ounce QuikTrip cups with a blue lid and red straw -- makes me feel patriotic.

Did you know that National Truffle Day is coming up? "Truffles" as in "I'd like a box of chocolate-raspberry" vs. "let's find a pig, fly to France and go rootin' for."

Don't go rushing to Hallmark just yet, though, because I don't think they'll have any Happy Truffle Day cards. Where you need to head, however, is your favorite spirits center (doesn't that have a nicer ring than "likker store"?).

To celebrate the day, the lovely folks at Frangelico shared a tasty treat with me, which I had to share with you in case you're not working and could have one in my honor. Because I really, really need one today. And as the Frangelico bottle reminds me of the naughty twin sister of Mrs. Butterworth, I felt even more compelled to share. Why? Because I love pancakes.

Anyhoo, master mixologist James Moreland created the very first Frangelico Truffle Cocktail, using a simple recipe of just three ingredients: Frangelico, vodka and espresso. It's perfect to pair with a light brunch or a mere chocolate fix.

Frangelico Truffle

1 ounce Frangelico
1 ounce SKYY vodka
.75 ounce espresso

1. Shake with ice, and serve chilled and up in a cocktail or martini glass.
2. Dust with dark chocolate shavings.

Peace, love and Mrs. Butterworth ... XOXO

Jason, your patriotism overwhelms me. Actually, "whelms" would probably be more accurate. You made my day, thanks.

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
