A reminder ... to VOTE on the song/artist you feel best honors Oklahoma rock music and musicians, and help decide Oklahoma's STATE ROCK SONG!

Personally, I believe Maud, Okla. native Wanda Jackson is one of the most influential rock and roll artists ever, especially considering she's a female and paved the way for so many female musicians to follow. She IS the queen of rockabillly, a woman heralded and adored in a field lousy with men. She was credited with being the first female to put a rock tune to acetate, and played with one of the industry's first integrated bands. :)

... and She was an integral, unsung founder of rock 'n' roll, closely tied to the King, Elvis Presley: The sweet lady with the nasty voice. (She's been credited with influencing Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis, even.)

While you're at it, also voice your desire to finally get her inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's about time. She's a true hero.

I adore her.
