Rose O’Donnell had a new gig on the "Today" show Tuesday and she took aim at Lindsay Lohan.

O'Donnell, who subbed for Dr. Nancy Snyderman as a member of the "Today Professionals" panel on the morning show, slammed actress Lindsay Lohan being chosen to portray Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime TV movie.

"I feel very sorry for her," said O'Donnell, when asked about the casting by show host Matt Lauer. "I think she needs a lot of time away.

"On 'SNL' it wasn’t as though she delivered," said O'Donnell. "People watched expecting, hoping, wishing but she needs a lot of help.
She's had a lot of trouble doing every single movie, including 'SNL.' She was out and not in rehearsal. I think she's not in a place to work."

While panel member Star Jones said Lohan was talented but hadn't seen enough of her work in recent years to form an opinion, former advertising executive and panel member Deutsch declared the young actress "our generation's Elizabeth Taylor!"

O’Donnell couldn’t let that one pass without a comment.

"You're out of your mind! You're a crackhead! Get out of here. The last thing she did good she was sixteen," she said.

His retort was that the actress, who recently completed court-ordered requirements following several run-ins with the California legal system, could bring attention to the role.

"I don't think she's right for the role and I don't think she's capable at this point to of doing what’s need to portray that character," O'Donnell said.

Next, Lohan will make a guest appearance one of the judges for nationals competition on the "Glee" episode airing May 15. Production on Lifetime’s “Liz & Dick” has been moved to Los Angeles to accommodate Lohan and will start in early June, according to Hollywoodreporter.com.

Rita Sherrow grew up with TV. Yes, it was the ever-present “sister” from another techno mother. At first look, it was instant "Like." From then on, the TV had to be on in every room while she studied, elementary school through college. An Air Force brat, she attended school in three states (Oklahoma, Montana and Georgia) and two foreign countries (Germany and Bermuda) and graduated from Broken Arrow High School and the University of Tulsa with a degree in journalism/advertising. She first interned in the advertising world but, when a J-School professor (who also covered politics for the Tulsa World) offered her an internship at the newspaper, she took him up on it. The rest is history. She has served as bridal editor, senior features writer for the women’s section, food editor and is television editor of the Tulsa World. In addition to writing about TV shows and interviewing the stars for “Scene” stories, she also writes a TV column for Weekend and produces the Sunday TV World listings magazine.
