The Circle Cinema is screening the Academy Award-nominated film "One True Thing," based on the novel by Anna Quindlen, at 7 p.m. tonight, as part of Tulsa Reads.

Quindlen's work as a novelist and journalist is the subject of the first Tulsa Reads, sponsored by the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers, Tulsa Town Hall, Tulsa City-County Library and the Tulsa World.

"One True Thing," about a young woman who leaves her career as a New York journalist to care for her dying mother, stars Meryl Streep, Renee Zellweger and William Hurt.

Teresa Miller, executive director of the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers, said Tuesday's screening is close to sold out -- call the theater at 918-592-3456 for information. All tickets are $8.50.

"One True Thing" will also be the book under discussion at the Library's Novel Talk, 7 p.m. Aug. 31 at Central Library, Fourth Street and Denver Avenue. For more information, go to tulsaworld.com/library.
